I saw this neat technique of stamping on an old book page and thought that I would give it a whirl.I had a couple of old books lurking in the garage and cannabilized them for their pages. The stamps are by SU!, papers are from Crate Paper. Embossing folder is ProvoCraft Anna Griffin.

Sew ... what's up?
Long time no blog- I have been giving my sewing machine quite a work out so the paper crafting has fallen a bit by the wayside.
My home-sewn goods made their debut at a craft fair 2 weeks ago.
The cat nip ravioli were quite a big hit.
As was the creepy robotic cat atop my cat beds!
I love sewing these little patchwork hot mitts.
I made some fun draw string ditty bags.
and even had a visit by this cute little furry shopper.
(Thanks to my friend Susan for taking these photos!)

Saying good bye to Memory Works
Memory Works revealed last week that they will be ceasing operations as of the end of December to more fully focus on Simple Stories. I have had such a lovely time on the MW design team this year.
In order to close out their inventory, they are having a ridiculous sale and I had quite a lot of product credits stored up such that I got a HUGE 9 lb. box of scrappy goodness from the UPS man yesterday. It was like Christmas morning pawwing through all those goodies! You can see here that it was PACKED to the brim.
Of course my creative mojo started sparking like mad as I am unpacking it.
I got the full line of Pebbles Halloween papers and embellies this year as Halloween is my favorite holiday. Sadly, I took just one Halloween picture this year so that lay out will be very well decorated indeed!
I loved the autumn colors though and was able to create a couple of Fall birthday cards with the Halloween papers.
And why did I buy 3 full lines of Christmas?-OH My!
Look how cute this Cosmo Cricket is...
That's all for now- back to the scraproom I go....

Happy Halloweenie Card!
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays- so fun to decorate for but not all the stress of shopping and cooking, and entertaining.
I made OODLES of Halloween cards this year. ( I think about 25 of 4 different designs.)
This one features an old SU! set Halloween Hedgehogs. I made it a bit more current by coloring it w/ Copics. The patterned papers were from a Pine Cone Press Christmas set that had been gathering dust on my shelf for 2 years (It was suffering from the "too cute to use " curse.) I sliced it right up and vanquished the curse!
The ribbon I picked up @ Hobby Lobby for $1 on sale and it actually is a lovely seam binding.

TeamWorks Blog Hop
Hi there Hoppers and welcome!
I'd like to share with you a lay out that I created using the Simple Stories "Say Cheese" collection.Living just a jump, hop, and a skip from Disneyland ,I have TONS of Magic Kingdom photos to scrapbook.
This collection makes it so easy to put layouts together using the coordinating papers, stickers, borders, and accent cards.
The Simple Stories papers and stickers look great with a Chip accent that I made on my Cricut machine.
(Tip Time- How I tell Chip from Dale... Dale has an "e" in his name and his nose is red which also has an "E" in it)
I have a little give away for one lucky blog hopper ( a Unity Stamp / Simple Stories mini stamp set).
Just leave a comment and I will use the random number generator to pick a winner at 5 pm (PST) on 10/16.
Good Luck!
So to keep on hopping

Breaking in some new stampies!
I had a lot of fun this AM unpacking and playing with a yummy box of SU! goodies that I got last week.
I got new inks, papers, stamps, punches , and embellies!
Here is the first card that I put together using them.
I broke in the pansy stamp set and coordinating punch, ditto the hexagon stamps and punch.
I also got the Sizzlets doily die and am very excited to make my own custom color doilies (no more boring Wilton white for me).

two timing!
I have a confession to make- I have been cheating on my paper crafting.
Yes- all those hours that I used to devote to card making, scrapbooking, ATCs have been seriously encrouched on by a new love- sewing!
I really enjoyed sewing when I first learned how back at Roosevelt Junior High School in San Francisco in Mrs. Wells' home economics class. We first sewed an odd little pinny smock which I don't think that anyone ever wore. And for my creative project I made a purple vest. Very hip and groovy back in the early 70's let me tell you!
I couldn't really pursue my sewing more because my mother sewed and had her own business called Peacock Patches. She sewed anything from humble alterations, wedding gowns, to couture Opera gowns for the City's social elite. The home sewing machine- her beloved Bernina was solely devoted to her business.
Flash forward to about a year ago when I decided to try again and took a few classes @ JoAnn's. I soon got tired of the long drive out there and discovered a wealth of instruction on-line from my beloved Professor Pin Cushion to Craftsy. I no longer have my mother to guide me but am blessed to have a mother-in-law who also is a sewiste. So I frequently text her with pix of my latest projects and lots of questions!
So I must admit that an occasional sewing project may end up here as well.

Back Again!
We are home from a great mini trip up to my home town of San Francisco.
I took GOBS of photos which means lots of fodder for scrapbooking-yay!
Anyhow- I needed to make a card this AM and got out my Simple Stories Vintage Bliss bundle of yumminess.I have been playing again with vellum-one of those old supplies that I have had since I started scrapping and just sort of forgot about. I made the sheer pink border on this card with deco scissors and an office hole punch.
(I want to add here a shout out for the Rhonna Farrar designs app for the I-phone. I LOVE it sooooo much- the best $1.99 I have ever spent on my phone!)

Sewing up some cards
I finally took a break from sewing to make some cards this afternoon- well actually they started with sewing... I had a bit of yellow thread left on my bobbin that I wanted to use up and my needle was getting dull so I grabbed a 6x6 pad of Simple Stories Autumn papers and made the card fronts. Then it was simply a matter of trimming some of the papers into borders and focal points. I added a little seam binding and some Imaginisce I-rocks to complete the cards.( A little added oomph was also supplied with a few daubs of brown chalking ink, flower punch, and trusty pop dots.)

Lovely Leftovers!
I made this card using left-over scraps of Maggie Holmes Crate paper that we had used to make a fabulous clipboard at the I heart Memories Retreat in Utah last month.
The pieces were so pretty I couldn't bear to waste any of them.
I saw this Cardabilities sketch and immediately thought of these scraps.Since I used a kraft base I thought that I would link it up with the Kraft Journal blog as well.
I made it more my own by using a Spell Binders Nestabilies die and embossing the card stock with an Anna Griffin and a Paper Studio embossing folder.

I need a bull dozer!
Yes- this is my shame- I am attempting to deep clean the stamp cave.
Ohhhhhhhh my!
I am at that terrifying stage where you pull everything out in hopes of finding a home for it all.
(Actually the area behind me is a sea of calm compared to this paper mayhem before me.)
My primary problem are the PILES of papers- I need to knuckle down and sort through them all and get them stashed away.
Coming home from Utah with a case full of goodies is what tipped the balance and sent me into this tail spin.
Hopefully- I will have a much tidier picture to post in a day or two.
Wish me luck- I am going back in!

Independence Day Banner
Here is my take on a banner that we started in a Bo Bunny class at the I {heart} Memories retreat in Layton, Utah last week. As designed it had 4 more panels in it which I chose to omit as there is only so much space on my hall tree to hang a banner. I saved those other 4 banner pieces and will clip them together to make a mini book out of.
I used Cricut Story Book to cut the lettering and added some buttons from my VAST button collection ( I REALLY have a serious thing for buttons!) I also conveniently had a big spool of red, white ,and blue grosgrain ribbon too to string it all together.
I thought the star was very clever- they had us assemble it using the "trash" pieces from where they had cut the tails into the chipboard banner pieces. It makes me feel so virtuous when I truly scrap with scraps!

Just a quickie!
Here are some fun little goodie bags that I made for the Memory Works Retreat this week in Layton, Utah.
I am really looking forwards to meeting other members of the Team Works gang and attending some fabulous classes.
I used the SU! Sizzix Top Note die to cut the base shape and then simply punched the stars from Simple Stories SN@P! papers. Tied on a little bakers twine and a button- quick and cute if I do say so myself.

Cards
I haven't posted in awhile so I wanted to share what I have been working on.
I LOVE that new Mason Jar die from Sizzix. It comes with a coordinating embossing folder for doing the vellum over lay to give the jar a glassy look. Absolutely brilliant!

Bubba Lunch
We had intended to take my Dad to the Long Beach Aquarium but were thwarted by a massive crowd( we couldn't even get into the parking structure) Driving by Bubba Gumps, Dad called out that he would rather go THERE! and eat out in the sunshine on the patio. At 89 my dad reveled in all the things that we just rather take for granted there. He LOVED getting his pic taken with the BIG shrimp and was a tad disappointed when his meal did not come out in a card board shrimp trawler but just on a non-descript plate instead.

Pika's Posies
Here's a lay out that I did playing around with some scraps from Simple Stories Vintage Bliss.
I punched various sized circles and scattered them for a border, added a few of the coordinating brads ,and some of the letter stickers as well.
I cut the Daffodil border from Cricut Walk in my Garden. I added a hint of color to the white background with a little spritz of Tattered Angels glimmer mist and added a few doilies just for good measure!
