A childs Year

I was really surprised by how much I am enjoying this new Cricut cartridge. I really like the card shapes function that comes with it as well as the shapes, tags, and the font. Here are a few cards that I have made with it since I got it on Saturday.
The shapes are so easy to work with and a yield a very nice result for minimum effort!

Variations on a Theme

I loved this card design on the cover of the current card creations and had to try lifting it- there is just something so pleasing about the trio of elements on it.
It was a fun way to really give my Martha Stewart punches a bit of a work-out too.

Sammy and the Snowman

It looks like it's going to be over 100 degrees here today ,so when I got this sweet snowman from Ellie at Digital Stamp Oasis I immediately had to go play! There is glitter all over the snow beneath them but it's impossible to photograph adequately. The patterned papers are Basic Grey Figgy Pudding. And the snowflake punch is a Martha.

Sweet lil Squirrel

Here's a Digital Stamp Oasis Susie Squirrel card that I made this AM. I am embarassed to say that I haven't touched my Copic Markers in over 2 weeks-it felt good to color again. The color scheme on this card is totally not one that I usually use but I drew my colors from the Basic Grey Mellow papers. The sentiment is from TAC. And those dragon fly brads I have had for AGES-it felt good to use them.

Reverse embossing

I am not quite sure what this technique is called so I just came up with that name!
I stamped the large botanical image over the green patterned paper with versamark ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. It doesn't look like anything until you take a small ink pad (I used green) and rub the ink directly over the embossed portions. Then use a tissue to wipe the ink off the embossing and the ink will remain in the nooks and crannies. I thought it was kinda fun and different.
All supplies SU! ( I made these for a swap)

Home Again

My poor bloggie is being so neglected but it's for good cause. Ian and I got back from northern California yesterday. We headed up for his college orientation at Sonoma State University- so much info -my goodness! They had a big meat cleaver and severed our umbilical cords immediately upon registration- the students went to one orientation and the parents to another. Of all the weeks for Ian to have washed his cell phone- I was totally cut off and totally freaked out! He survived- but my grey hair collection is a bit worse for all the worrying. The school is absolutely awesome (It has redwoods trees all over- love them! The dorms are all names after varieties of wines) and I feel really good with his choice.
