A week in the life....

My friend Nancy and I are undertaking a little scrapbooking adventure based on a class taught by Ali Edwards at CKU. The basic premise is creating a visual documentary in scrapbook form of a week in your life. I started in on the background pictures today. Ali said to shoot approx. 30 photos per day. It was really fun this AM taking pix of all sorts of things that I see everyday but never think "worthy" enough to photograph. I got some of my favorite shots shooting out my car window while stopped at street lights and traffic signs. Here are a couple of the pix- my ancient demented cat Cosmo stealing some milk from the cereal bowls-he does this every morning! Ian getting in the car to go to school. And I think that I should take a pic of my studio desk space eveyday to document what I am working on that day- to see that I am prolific in my creative outpourings is a bit of an understatement- this pic represents some swap cards that I was finishing up for a monthly Angel Swap.

More Monoprints

I made a second sheet of monoprints yesterday but changed up the colors of the ETOH inks.I also made some book marks as well- I'll try to post those tomorrow.
The collage stamp is from Stampers Anonymous, phrase-is Dawn Hauser for Inkadinkadoo.

Monoprint Challenge

I made this card this AM for Anne's monoprint challenge over on A Shade of Blue.
I have to say that my fingertips are very pretty multi colored now!
I just got this stamp (Hampton Art Stamps) last week at Mike's w/ a half off coupon. I worked with it a little this weekend-painted it in with twinkling H2Os and did not like the results at all- this is MUCH MUCH nicer!
The background is done by squirting ETOH inks onto a SilMat, then dripping on the blender solution, then smooshing your glossy cardstock over it. (I definitely lost some brain cells this AM between the ETOH inks, blender solution, Krylon pen, and Staz-on. Why do my favorite crafting supplies have to be so toxic?!)

Thinking of You

I whipped up this card this AM for a challenge over on CX. It was to use a die cut title, ribbon, button, and a stamp.
I picked up the American Crafts PP for cheaps at Mike's this week (5 sheets for a buck- woohoo!)The title is from Alphalicious, stamps are from TAC-Simply divine set, ribbon is from Jo's, and the button is an old Sticko.

Oldie but goodie day

you know what that means- no time to make something new so here's something from the 2006 archive!
I literally have over 100 sheets of KI Memories paper. I am not the hugest KI fan but got such a ridiculously good deal on it at JoAnn's that I had to buy it and push myself out of my usual creative zone with it.
I used my Cricut for the wording- I think it's from Beyond Birthdays.

Mom's 80th birthday

I am so pleased with how this LO came out.
It was really special to have 2 of my 3 brothers able to come down to southern California to celebrate Mom's big day with us.
I used my Cricut pretty heavily on this LO- Alphalicious and base camp for the lettering, and Celebrations for the border.
PP is from K and Co., ledger paper is from Creative Imgainations.

More Alphalicious

This card was inspired by one that I saw in Cards magazine by Waleska Neris.
Autumn is my favorite time of year- so I changed up the colors to make it more of a Fall card.
The sentiment was cut with the Cricut Alphalicious cart..
PP from last years DCWV Fall Stack.Silk flower- Bazzil, stamps -curls and swirls from TAC, and a very old button sticker by Sticko.

Alphalicious!

I am having so much fun Cricutting again lately-I had packed little Cricut up and not played with him for awhile. I got a new cart. at Mike's this week and have been having such a nice time playing with him again!
I really went a bit crazy on all the lettering for this page- did the bulk of the letters with Alphalicious but used the Mickey font for the "Disney"
PP is from KI memories.

(These pix were from Disneyland last Spring- we just happened to be there on a day when they were filming a segment for Dancing With The Stars there- We loved Joey and were so glad that it was him dancing there! We waited about 2 hours in the sun to watch them film what ended up being about a minute of film time.)

Totally besotted

I admit it-I am just ridiculously in love with our little kitten Otto-he is just the sweetest little creature.
I just kept wanting to kiss his little nose while I was working on this LO.
I broke in my new Cricut Alphalicious cart. for the "darling", also broke in a fun new Ellison long die for the "otto".
The cool die cut wings are a special edition die for the Revolution made for a scrappy store in San Dimas called Scrapping Good Times.(My friend Lisa cut me a couple pairs- thank you Lisa!)
Paper is BG Infuse.
I put a lot of Hero Arts bling along the bottom but it didn't photograph too sparkley but is very pretty IRL.

Caardvarks Munchkins

Yep-it looks like mini card madness here-Caardvarks issued a challenge to make mini ATC cards. (Yes-I make ATCs all the time but do I ever make cards out of them ...no! Insert big Homer Simpson ::::DOH:::: here.)
Anyhoodle-
the snowmen were a bit of a carry-over from their sticker challenge- these are some old stickers from DCWV.
The back ground was fun-I stamped the snowflakes (CTMH) first in blue Brilliance ink- embossed them in wedding tinsel EP for dimension and sparkle, then went back and stamped over them again with the blue brilliance which lends a nice depth to it.

The other card was just me playing with some ribbon I found for a dollar on clearance at Mike's and let that inspire me- the stamp is from Autumn Leaves.

Rejection Doldrums

I picked up the latest Stampers Sampler Take Ten issue yesterday at Mike's to thumb through it and was so collossally bummed to see that it was one that I had submitted 3 cards for their design challenge and none of them got picked...wah wah WAH!
I really thought that this one stood a good chance as it was a more vintagey theme and I have noticed that they seem to have drifted more back to that style lately.
Oh well.... I'll keep on plugging away at the old stamp mill!!!!
Sweet Pea stamp is from Paper Bag Studios (I adore this lil gal!)
French Script Background stamp from SU!

2 more entries for Caardvarks

It really was fun poking through my PSB and I came across these beautiful old PSX stickers (I miss PSX!) I remembered how I used to like to glitter them up with my stickles.
So here are 2 more entries for the Caardvarks sticker card challenge.
The madonna and child has a pigment ink direct to paper background.
The bouquets background was stamped with a very old ink splatter stamp from DOTS.

Caardvarks sticker card challenge entry

This was a really good challenge-I hadn't pulled out my old PSB in ages- there was some cute stuff in there!
My friend Stacy turned me on to Caardvarks.blogspot.com which is a super site for card making inspiration.

This card uses froggies stickers from The Gifted Line,PP from Daisy D's,scrabble letter sticker is from EK, sentiment sticker is from Stampendous (whoa that a lot of stickers!),the chipboard letter was from Jo's-I just ran a Krylon gold leafing pen all over it (I love those pens!)The ribbon was self-adhesive from Jo's- does that count as a sticker too then?
Swiped some Tim "Baby" Holtz ditress ink over the whole magilla and eh voila!

oldie but goodie

I had to dig into my photo archives this AM because my USB cable has gone missing on me and my new pix are trapped in my camera!

This card was inspired by a Sandylion ad. The patterned card stock and stickers are old Basic Grey Dawson.
(Tip for using those stickers- after you apply them, go around them with a fine tip black pen-it really makes them pop) Silk flowers are from Michaels and Doodle bug.
with a little help from my ever-trusty Dymo labeller.

Lift of Roree's card

The super -talented Roree Rumph posted the greatest card over on CX-with this design that I just loved of the big circle and the double row of scalloped edging.
This is my twist on it.
I started out with a pre-made card by DCWV, then layerd some more DCWV cs on top(cut with the CM circle maker)The scallops are paper frills from DoodleBug.
Silk flowers are from Bazzil and Heidi Swapp.
And the brad is making memories.
Ribbon is COD Wholesale (check out their website CODwholesale.com-- they have the cheapest ribbon-I adore them!!!!)
And I used my White Sharpie to do some detail work.
Not bad, eh?

How many more days until Christmas?

I know -I know it's only Septemeber but it's never too early to start in on holiday projects because they will be here all too soon.
I made these ornaments using shapes by Creative Imaginations. The Snow men paper is from Basic Grey Fruitcake. The other papers are My Minds Eye-Bohemia Christmas.I distressed the edges with some Tim Holtz wlanut distress ink, added some Sitckles and little button brads(Making Memories) to the star ornamant

Autumn ATC

I have really gotten back into ATCs (artist trading cards) in a big way.
When I first started doing them 3 years ago, I was an absolute fiend for them and was joining multiple swaps weekly. Getting the mail was the highlight of my day because invariably there would be some swap cards in it.
I've been poking around in some of My YahooGroups ATC groups and found some themes that appealled to me and have really gotten back into the swing with them.
This ATC was for an anything autumn swap.
I used my QuicKutz pumpkin die and some DCWV patterned paper.Added some chalks, pen detail , and gold leaf pen.

LIfe Long Love...

for cats!
I did this LO for a very fun on-going challenge over on the CX MB.
We are using Elsie Flannigan's book to do monthly LO's on. (Actually -it's broken into 52-so you could actually do one a week if you had that much energy!)
This old family pix just slays me- I think that my mom probably has the best hair of any of us- I was sporting my Dorothy Hamill wedge cut- so it has to be junior high years for me.
Over-all it's a pretty busy LO- but sometimes nothing less than wretched excess will do!

Knitting Nancy

I made this card this AM for my pal Nancy who is ...you guessed it a knitter!
I had this knitting stamp and hadn't used it so who better to break it in on.
I also dipped into my stash of BG Urban Couture which was suffering from that- Basic Grey -it's too nice to use affliction! It felt good to make a little dent in my stash!

For the dogs

I made these ATCs in response to an email that I received asking for donations of ATC's that will be auctioned on EBAY to benefit Bernie Berlin's dog sanctuary -A Place to Bark. Bernie is an incredible artist and very prominent in the ATC world. Her book an ATC Workshop is a fantastic primer to making ATC's and a great source to jump start your creativity. A Place to Bark is her humane shelter that rescues doggies who were soon to be euthanized at county run facilities.

The theme of the swap was "Zeti dogs". Again if you are not too familiar with the art ATC world- Zeti ( from zetiology)is a style coined by artist Teesha Moore. It is very whimsical, has many hand drawn elements , and a lot people and creatures sporting hats, wings and crowns. (I'd really recommend googling both Teesha and Bernie to soak up some of their art work)

I had made these backgrounds some time ago- spritzing thick watercolor paper with some of Stamp Zia's color washes- and then randomly brushing on some Lumiere irredescant paint.
The doggie stamps are from stamp cabana.

I have to say that drawwing and coloring the borders was somehow immensely satisfying to me- it allowed me back into a creative zen spot in my brain that I hadn't been able to access for a couple weeks!
