Visions of pink poodles...

...dancing in my head.
Sorry-long time no blog. I have barely set foot in my stamp room the past few days. I have been busy playing travel agent planning Ian's Spring Break college tours trip. (I swear that he was just a sweet baby in footie pajamas just last week- they grow up SO fast!)We are hitting 11 schools in 6 days-wish us luck. To finish off we'll be driving down the Calfornia coast along highway 1 through Big Sur. I am hoping for some clear sunny days to get some spectacular photos of the Pacific.

Here's a little something I did this week with some SCS Wish RAK poodle images that I received.I admit it -I really do have a soft spot for big pink poodles!
The doggie is SU!, the "bonjour" is TAC. Did a little cuttlebugging and Scor-pal action as well. Poodle is colored in w/ Lyra watercolor crayons.

The Denami Designs booth at the Riverside Stamp Show last month was one of the highlights of the show for me. Their stamps and papers are so soft and girlie- I could eat them up. I got this stamp (and one of a chic lady walking some doggies). I had this old Dena Fishbein paper by ColorBok at home that I knew was very similar to Denami's. I finally sat down yesterday to put it all together!(The idea had been rattling around in my head for wayyyy too long-it needed to come out!)
I just wish that the glitter had photographed better-it really sparkles.
The girls are colored in with watercolor pencils and a Tombow blender pen.

a public service announcement...

ACK- I hated to do this because it drives me buggy when commenting on other peoples blogs but I had to enable the scrambled word confirmation setting for comments today. I had been getting some weird comments from people who I really DOUBT were scrappers or stampers(hmmmm how many men in BelleRusse,Estonia, and Egypt really stamp- PUH-lease!!!). More ominously they had links in their comments that I am sure would take you somewhere bad if you clicked on them. Hopefully- this will deter them as they seem to be looking for quick random targets.
Be on the look out-if you get any weird comments like that on your blogs- be sure to just delete them!

Easter Cards Class Sneak Preview

Here's an early look at one of my cards for my upcoming March cards class at the Michael's in Chino...
This card is my take on a popular card that appeared in multiple variations on the Cricut message board last Spring.
I will post the other cards soon and the dates and details for signing up.

Faith and Begorrah

I know it's a tad early but I got this darling Cats Pajamas stamp at the Riverside stamp show last month and really wanted to break it in.
I colored it in with my trusty Tombows, slathered on a bit of stickles for good measure, added a tablespoon of CB embossing, and the finishing touch was a sprinkle of Cricut shamrock in the corner. YUM!

Cricut Easter

I was poking through my pictures in my hardrive this AM looking for some card class ideas and found these 2 cricut cards that I made from last Sping.
The bunny was cut from Doodle charms and the flower was cut using doodle type.
The patterned paper is die cuts with a view and the ric raccy-like embelishment is paper frills by DoodleBug

Abby's ABC's

Call me crazy but I got this wild idea 3 days ago to do an ABC book for my great niece Abby (who turned 2 today) to make her a little ABC book for her party. I just bought Zoobaloo for cheaps at Mike's on Wednesday and had to break it in!
(I had been soooo good and had not bought a new Cricut cartridge since last April-I felt that I was wayyyy overdue for a new one!)
For the book pages I used round coasters that I picked up at the dollar spot at Mike's. They were a perfect 4 inches so I mass cut the circles using George on my big 12 x 12 cutting mat with the Expression. The letters and the animals I cut at 3 inches on my little bug. The papers were from an old Rob and Bob Provo Craft slab. It felt great to use up some of my stash. I sure hope she likes it- unfortunatly it turns out that I can't go to her party because ironically I have to teach a class at Mike's today on..... the Cricut!

Valentine's ATC

This will be the last of the Valentine's projects-I promise!
Today is our monthly swap at Stamp Your Heart out.
I made these ATC's using a great vintage Daisy D's paper with the retro cowboy images. I ran out of the Daisy D's background paper and had to use Basic Grey on some of them.
I punched the little hearts with an EK Whale of punch and added some red Stickles for a little extra pizzazz.Ric rac and buttons are from Wally World.

My Frodie Valentine

I had to post a pic of my lab Frodo in his festive Valentine's sweater/scarf that I knit him.
Unlike kitten Otto-he really likes his scarf!

Happy Valentine's Day

Now that the paper hearts, glitter, and doilies have settled... I probably sent out over 40 valentine's this year! Definitely a new record for me.
I wish you all chocolates and roses- and thank you so very much for dropping by my blog.

CuttleBug Crazy

I love this new technique that I picked up off of Susie B's web site (see 2 posts below)-I used the Scr-Pal to make 2 lines across the center of my piece of card stock. I then ran each end through the CB folder individually. How clever-How come I NEVER have Einstein moments like that?!

For lovers of all things cute

Here's a little PS...
I recently stumbled onto the website of SusieB
Oh my stars...... there is soooooo much cuteness there!
If you like Fluffles, Penny Black hedgies, House mouses, all those cutielicious kinda guys... stampede on over to check it out.

She makes me actually want to take the plunge and learn the gamsol magic pencil technique-she is just an amazing colorist

breaking tomato news....

The plants are in!
The weather was gorgeous yesterday (sorry mid-westerners who are up to your ears in snow!)The garden was calling that planting time had come.
We have such high hopes for our tomatoes this year.3 years ago we had the MOST amazing plant/crop EVER. We named our big plant Audrey after the plant in "little shop of horrors". Unfortunately -she was such a great producer that she really sucked the soil dry. So the next year our tomatoes were quite sad. Last year we left the vegetable bed fallow to recover.Lots of fresh compost has gone in and 3 different plants so hopefully-one will be a good fit. We got Better Bush, Better boy, and early girl. We also plated some head lettuce (keeping fingers and toes crossed that the bunnies don't get in through the chicken wire barrier that DH put up.) A new strawberry and some flat leaf parsley. My mouth is watering at the thought of summer tomatoes from the garden right now!

Some Bunny Special

I made this card for my friend Bunny on the CX MB.
(Great way to use an Easter set for a birthday!)
It's hard to see in the photo but I put crystal lacquer on the balloons.
The bright papers are the new Miss Moxie paper collection.

Not quite what I had in mind!

Honest-I was going for a Mary Engelbreit color combo and it looks like I ended up at McDonalds instead!!!!

But I really do like the design of the card- so there ya go!

The Sweet Skunks are such an easy set to work with-very little coloring involved- you can't really add much to the skunks other than outlining them with the grey Tombow. I used my fave stardust gel pen for a little shimmer on my daisy petals.
I embossed the grid pattern onto the red cardstock with my Scor-pal and love how it turned out.

4 muses

I love this 4 muses stamp by StampaRosa. I stamped it in black archival ink over a glossy background that I had decorated with alcohol inks. Then I mounted it on a cuttlebug embossing matte, and finally layered onto a teal card-that I had used my ColorBox PetalPoint pigment inks to colorize direct to paper and over stamped with the Hero Arts "art" stamp.

Paying it forward...

Here are 3 BRAKs (blogging Random Acts of Kindness) that I have set to mail out today to 3 of my blogging buddies. Gabby sent me a gorgeous BRAK about a month ago and I have been itching to move the BRAK Express along.
These were from a class that I taught at Michaels and another little LSS.It's a card keeper and matching cards.I was thinking that if the recipients didn't care for the cards at least they could probably reuse the design!

Now, if you'll excuse me I think that I will go watch a little papercrafting on QVC before I have to get DS up for school! (That Todays Special Value is calling to me....)

about the lil black die cutter...

Isn't that the cutest lil thing?
She's black with a pink scroll motif and 2 of the sweetest lil rhinestones.
And she's not even in the stores yet!
How did I get her, you ask?
I was lucky enough to be called by Sizzix (they got my name and number from a survey I had filled out at their warehouse sale last Spring)to come participate in a focus group at Ellison head quarters in nearby Lake Forest and this newly re-faced Big Shot was my lovely parting gift.
Sweet!

I was afraid that you would ask!

I should have known better than to mention the piles on the floor!
Here is one of the offending heaps (It is the worst by far!) And is today's pet project. My problem is that I am out of space in my scraproom and should stop buying-but do I stop.... oh no!

I got an email from a LSS that they are collecting donations of unused supplies for the Oct.07 Orange County and San Diego county wild fire victims who lost all their scrapping supplies- so my plan today is to attack the pile with a large box and try to weed it down to a more manageable size!

Wish me luck-I hope it doesn't fall on me-it could hurt!
